Spring Color Trends 2018: Petals + Pastels
The softness of spring petals reflect in the pastel-painted walls that surround us. We are craving the hope and happiness that spring blooms represent, as new life peeks through cold ground. Botanical prints, oversized blooms, and foraged centerpieces are working their way into our homes through textiles, artwork, and arrangements. We connect the color composition of petals to paint with floral designer Katie Stewart, founder of Dearhouse Collective. Muted pastels combine to create an unexpected, modern color relationship in your home with periwinkle blue DREAM .03, hazy green GLASS .03, spicy citron BEESWAX .04, and blush-y peach CREATE .01.
Dusty peach spray roses and foraged plum tree leaves shine against the painted backdrop of blush-y peach CREATE .01. A pastel hue that dances between yellow and orange, use as an alternative to pink in nurseries and bedrooms.
Dogwood tree blossoms and carnation blooms combine to create layered shades of green against a muted GLASS .03 backdrop. Our artist-crafted colors are inspired by natural beauty and designed to be backdrops for living. GLASS .03 is a dusty green that feels earthy and real. Use this color as a “neutral with soul” in places where you want color — but not too much.
DREAM .03 is the perfect periwinkle blue. With comfortable sophistication, you can use the color casually in a bedroom or with more elegance in a formal dining room. Blue hydrangea blooms and Silver Bell eucalyptus pods bring together traditional and modern floral elements in this bouquet. Situated against a monochromatic DREAM .03 background, the subtle shifts in petal color from blue to lavender to grey stand out.
Citron yellow hyacinth blooms match perfectly painted BEESWAX .04 backdrop. An intoxicating fragrance from the flowers mingles with the feeling of freshness from this warm pastel. BEESWAX .04 is yellow, but with a hint of green. Designed with a bit of zing, you notice this color wherever you find it. We recommend trying it in a kitchen with lots of light surrounded by bright white cabinets.
