Jorden and Alicia

With a little help from friend Chief Color Nerd Puji Sherer, Alicia and Jordan transformed a banal house with good bones into a comfortable and stylish home for their family. Located in SE Portland, this colorful and cozy bungalow boasts a minimalist vibe with bursts of color throughout.

Alicia wanted to add interest up entering the small footprint bungalow without making the house feel cramped. Soothing neutral STONE .04 acts as a gentle all over hue in the dining room. This color spills into the hallway and stairwell and creates a gentle flow to the other rooms of the house.

Bright white BISQUE .01 maintains the integrity of the original trim, combining a traditional design element with contemporary wall color.

Happy blue WATER .04 adds light-heartedness to the living room designed for family gatherings, music playing, and book reading.

Blue WATER .04 acts as a neutral in this room when combined with gold and maroon color pops in textiles and the rug. A layered mix of vintage and contemporary pieces make this living room comfortable with a unique design perspective.

The contained color WATER .04 in the living room opens up to soft grey STONE .04 in the dining room, balancing a sense of coziness with a feeling of openness in this 1920s Portland bungalow.

For the kitchen, Alicia and Jordan wanted to give the original cabinetry a facelift by applying a fresh coat of paint. Continuing the colorful theme started in the front of the house with WATER .04, they chose earthy orange CLAY .03 with black rod iron pulls. This hue pulls colors from the wood floor and surrounds the kitchen in a warm glow.

Cool and contemporary grey/blue BISQUE .06 flanks the colorful CLAY .03 cabinets in this open air kitchen.

Alicia and Jordan wanted to open up their kitchen and make more room for their growing family. BISQUE .06 on the walls keeps this bump out spacious and light.

Cool hue BISQUE .06 continues into the bathroom, adding a freshness to the earthy cork floors and multi-colored handmade clay tiles.

Despite having little square footage to work with in the master bedroom, Alicia and Jordan did not shy away from the richness of an accent wall with warm grey STONE .06. Balanced out by muted blue WATER .02, STONE .06 frames the bed and eliminates the need for a headboard.

Upstairs, sweetness abounds in 2 little kiddo rooms across the hall from each other. AIR .06 is a blue whisper with a hint of lavender. This color says sweet dreams while pretty peach CREATE .01 tucks in the crib…and baby Cora.

Big sister Maya’s room is cheerful and playful with minty green AIR .05 on the walls and color pops of coral in her hand-crocheted blanket and fuzzy shag rug.
