Shades of pink and green. These are some of the first hues that we see as winter transitions into spring and the world returns back to life. Pastel shades of each color are emblematic of the spring season. Spotted everywhere from Japanese cherry blossoms in bloom, to some of season’s most beautiful flowers – sculptural orchids – these are the hues that define spring. These are hues that can also be found in Brooklyn In Color, the AphroChic paint collection in partnership with Colorhouse that incorporates deep, soulful colors, handcrafted to accentuate the architectural details of any interior.
In a desire to represent spring’s essence in color, we pulled together three shades from the collection – Coney Island Pink, Prospect and Minerva, to create a vignette inspired by the season. A refreshing mix of warm pastels with a steely gray, this combination of hues allows each shade to work independently as a neutral, and together as a gentle reminder of spring’s natural beauty.
Seventeen years into the millennia, and pink is becoming an interior design favorite as a new neutral. Here, Coney Island Pink creates a smile-inducing backdrop in the vignette. Not too strong, this pink with gray undertones plays well with other shades, making it easy to design a colorful mix in this space. Pale Prospect green feels like a gray against the blushing pink wall. And for the trim, Minerva grounds the color story. Bringing these whimsical shades back down to earth.
Furnishings were chosen to highlight each shade’s promise. Minerva echoes the Turkish Timber rug from FLOR. From The Mine, pieces with sculptural shapes were chosen. Feminine, and almost floral-like, a Star Fruit Vase in pale green becomes a perfect accent piece. The color appears again in velvet side chair with legs and metallic bar cart that provide just a little bit of shimmer. The Hadley Floor Lamp finishes the vignette, tall and sculptural, brass accents shine against the shades of pink, green and gray in the interior.
It’s the refresh that makes spring so powerful. Seeing it all come back to life. And in this room, each hue is a lively exploration, finding a perfect partner in contemporary furnishings that are right on trend this season.
